Planning Your Project

Every area of your project is important but planning is extremely important and the most overlooked area of the project. To have a top level winning vehicle you can’t just add ideas and parts as you go along. You must plan what you want to do with your vehicle including style, engine, paint, wheels, how often you are going to drive it etc. before you start work.

The best place to start is by drawing the vehicle by hand or on a computer. If you can’t do this yourself get a designer to draw it up showing modifications, colour and overall concept you want to achieve. The biggest choice you will have to make is whether you want to drive your vehicle on the street or use it mostly for show. This will effect the body and engine modifications, choice of paint, wheels, interior and amount of detail especially on the undercarriage. If you want an elite show-winning vehicle you won’t be able to drive it on the street regularly. The best compromise is to build an elite car, show it everywhere for 1 to 2 years and then drive it selectively on the street and enjoy it.

You can still have an award-winning ride on the street with great body, paint, engine, interior, tidy undercarriage just not fully detailed.
